snapshots

Wow! Okay, I have definitely been neglecting this space. Every time I think about posting something, I feel overwhelmed. I know that the more I put it off, the more stuff I'll have piled up to share later. So I'm going to stop dragging my feet and post a little something to let you know that we are alive, healthy (so far!), and enjoying the spring weather.

But since I'm still feeling lazy about posting, it'll be short and sweet with a little snapshot of each of the kids.

Liam has always reminded me of my brother, Mark. But this picture just really made me see it more. He is finishing up 1st grade and I think we're both ready for a break!

Kai will be 5 this Friday. He makes it very hard to get anything done around the house because he always asks to cuddle with me. This fall will get really crazy with a kindergartner, a 2nd grader, two toddlers, and a newborn!

Kingston has always been the biggest trouble maker of the batch. But he also has a completely different side to him. He often says "mommy, you're beautiful" and, like Kai, asks to cuddle all the time. And he's super random and hilarious. Start a conversation with him--just try it!

I was just talking to Don about how right after we had Evangeline, I didn't think it could get any better. But I fall more in love with her every day. She is hilarious and loves to sing the ABC's and (unfortunately for her daddy) Let it Go. The moment we get around anyone outside of our family, she tenses up and acts super shy. But don't let her act fool you.

So nothing exciting to update but I plan to get back to this space soon!

do you wanna build a snowman?

It feels a little late to be posting snowy pictures. Last weekend we got a big snowfall and this weekend we are able to open windows and play in the warm weather.

Truth is, baby #5 hasn't been treating me so well. So by the time the kids are in bed, I'm ready to turn off my brain for the night. And by that, I mean 'browse Pinterest and watch Netflix.' And the occasional (nightly) bowl of cookies and cream ice cream may or may not be making an appearance lately.

Tomorrow I will get another peek at baby boy as a follow up to my last appointment. Hopefully he will hold still for the measurements and all will be well. And he may be dubbed a name pretty soon...if we could ever make up our indecisive minds.

So anyway--back to the snow day...but just the pictures from it. Because I'm not too anxious to actually go back to the snow and cold.

I actually think the only time I've ever taken any of the kids to play in the snow was when Liam was one. Something about the 40 minute prep time to piece together warm enough clothing for 10 minutes of play time and the 30 minutes of undressing and rewarming our bodies just didn't seem too appealing. This year we were motivated by the desire to shoot some stock footage.

So the boys worked together to build a snowman. We timed it so that we could do it during Evangeline's nap.

...a couple of hours later

So while I can admit that we had a really good time playing in the snow, I will be quicker to admit how much more fun we'll have in the warm weather. Something about the feel of spring just gives me a little more energy. And that's what I desperately need right now!

Have a good week!

February iPhone photos (part 2)

A few more iPhone pictures from February...

When the kids are away, I can load my pancakes with chocolate chips and butter and eat in silence.

It's pretty cool that Liam can write his own books and then read them to his siblings

Liam dreamed up this photo for us

when pretzel cravings line up with the sudden urge to bake.
**with a little photobombing from baby #5

Evangeline's Dorthy vibes called for a little photoshoot

My kids have some big personalities. I love them.

It has come to the point that I can do things like this and my kids don't even think I'm strange. They seriously walked by and said "oh, mommy is just organizing the Fruit Loops."

I've already mentioned it before--but I have the honor of being one of Maggi's bridesmaids...4 days before my due date! Yikes! Praying that this baby is not early!!

Finishing out the month with the illusion of a cozy snow day. Sometimes I'm glad that you can't hear all the crazy that happens in the background of pictures.
