visit with the Roths

A couple of weeks ago, my brother's family came to visit from Oklahoma. It's always good to see them since we usually only get to see them once or twice a year. The boys absolutely love their 10 year old cousin, Gracie. We were able to spend a couple of days hanging out with them so here are some of the pictures from the weekend.

this is one of their other cousins, Madolyn

and my beautiful niece, Gracie

Growing up, we used to always take this walk to the property next to my Grandma's house. It was really fun to take the kids over there for the first time.

we also went to a wedding that weekend so I had to throw this one in :)

bonfire and "hayrides"

the fire was so hot that you had to get creative when roasting hot dogs

St. Louis, my city (video)

In my last post, I mentioned my love for the NYC guide video series by Naomi from Love Taza. I thought it would be so fun to do one for St. Louis. I asked Maggi if she would let me record her walking around the city. She graciously agreed, knowing that the quality wouldn't be the best. The problem? Narrowing down where you want to go. We decided to start with the downtown area.

I know I'm going to regret linking back to the NYC guide because mine ended up being nowhere near how good that one is. But I had a lot of fun making it. I'm thankful for a friend who will walk back and forth for me all day.

this week's links

Today I am going to try something new, inspired by a couple of blogs that I follow--Rubyellen of Cakies and Studio DIY.

Each week they round up different links to share. I know some people really don't have the time or desire to click around to different sites--and I really understand! I don't click every single link. But sometimes you just get lured in by little clickable links that say things like easy homemade cronuts---which I still need to try...maybe covered in cinnamon sugar.

Before I start, have you heard of Hungry Games on the Food Network? Neither had I until my sister in law texted me this past week and told me my boys were on it! I immediately reached out to the world of social media to see if anyone could record it. We still have yet to see the full episode but we did get a little sneak peek--

I have had several people ask how that even happened. We started creating stock videos recently and this was our first sale! It's amazing that not only did we get to see how it was used, but that it was aired on the Food Network--seriously my favorite TV station for the past 12+ years.

Speaking of being on TV, my brother's band Greek Fire, performed on Fox 2 yesterday.

But that's nowhere near as cool as having their song featured in the trailer for the upcoming Disney movie "Big Hero 6".

This truffle recipe is so addictive--seriously my favorite.

One of my favorite blogs did a little NYC video guide series that inspires me so much!

I'm hoping to copy Maggi's Halloween donuts this week for the boys.

I'm really wanting to go out and enjoy the colors of fall this weekend since it's probably at the peak of its beauty before the leaves start falling.

Have a great weekend!

family camp (part three)

It's hard to believe that Family Camp was 2 weeks ago. I shouldn't be surprised. This happens all the time. I look forward to an event, counting down the days until that specific event will occur, and then when it's over, I spend months saying "I can't believe it has been 'x amount of time' since that happened!

Because of that, it has been really special to me to have this space to document our lives. I am not a writer. My mind just doesn't work like that. I tend to either write way too much, including unimportant details, or I don't write much of anything. I've been in that kind of a rut here lately; only writing a few sentences before posting mostly pictures. I love pictures and don't see myself changing that aspect anytime soon. But I do want to find a balance between writing too much and writing too little. We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, back to Family Camp. Out of the 4 days we were there, we had one nice, gorgeous, fall-weather day. Relay races and volleyball took place all day. I took tons of photos that day so I obviously couldn't post them all. But here are some of them from the day...

That, right there, is my team--the winning team!

if you want to have fun taking sports pictures, go find Billy

And that's it for the Family Camp pictures. My pictures all revolve around the activities that happened during the day but I would really have to say one of my favorite parts of the weekend is to spend time with people who are like-minded, getting to know some people that you don't know as well. Lots of love going around.
Until next year...

family camp (part two)

After a busy weekend, I'm back to share some more pictures from Family Camp. My first post revolved around the times we spent indoors. The second day was cold and rainy but we were not going to let it get in the way.

At Rockport, we don't mess around. Slip n slide and basketball in the rain.

**note that most had jackets and umbrellas. then there was the girl in a swim suit in the background

I've never taken pictures of sports before and I do have to say that it was pretty fun. I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon though.

Lots of spectators with their umbrellas
